What is cupping?: Cupping is an ancient method of Oriental medicine, dating back to 300 AD. In modern times cups may be either glass or bamboo and are heated to create a suction and placed on the skin, generally on the back. Assorted styles of cupping include sliding, flash or leaving cups in place for about 10 minutes. Cupping is the inverse of a massage because it applies upward pressure and is a great tissue release.
Purpose of cupping: Cups, when placed on the back follow five meridian* pathways located on the back. Suction from the cups loosens muscles, encourages blood flow through all organs and tissues, release toxins, activates lymphs, and sedates the nervous system.
Benefits of cupping: Cupping may be used for relaxing neck and back pain, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, common colds and respiratory conditions. Great for overall relaxation of the body.
