HEALING TECHNIQUES
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) is an ancient health care modality that has been effective in treating a variety of health issues for
over 3000 years. It not only relieves symptoms, but also addresses the underlying cause of those symptoms.
The goal of this holistic and balanced health care system is to activate the natural, self-healing abilities of the body. TCM helps restore balance to
the body while strengthening the flow of Qi (life force energy) to help prevent future illness and disease. When Qi is flowing freely, true health and well-being can be achieved naturally.
To balance the body through TCM the practitioner is looking for the “root” condition along with any “branches” to treat the patient. This starts with
the initial intake which consists of a full health history. Next, are the “ten questions” which are a specific part of the evaluation and comes from the
“Four Pillars” of Oriental Medicine.
Other “Pillars” are, looking at the patients tongue, taking pulses and an appropriate physical exam. The practitioner then puts all of the assessments
together for diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
Three Treasures in Oriental Medicine refers three vital substances in the body. One is, Jing (Essence) which is inherited and tells the state of your
constitution. Next is, Qi which is vital energy in the body. The third is, Shen (the Mind) which shows the strength of a persons personality.
